President Trump Files Lawsuit against Michigan, Claiming the State Has Not Given "Meaningful Access" to Ballot Review

by Yehudit Garmaise

As the tension mounts in extremely tight races such as Michigan, where Joe Biden shows a slight lead, President Trump’s campaign has filed a lawsuit today in the Michigan Court of Claims asking that the state stop counting votes because Trump feels his side was not given “meaningful access” to overseeing and the opening and counting of ballots.

“We also demand to review those ballots which were opened and counted while we did not have meaningful access,” Stepien, Trump’s campaign manager, wrote in a statement. “The Trump campaign has not been provided with meaningful access to numerous counting locations to observe the opening of ballots and the counting process, as guaranteed by Michigan law.”

Michigan is a critical battleground state that helped deliver Trump the presidency in 2016, along with Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, which are both very close, and are yet to be called.

“President Trump is committed to ensuring that all legal votes are counted in Michigan and everywhere else,” Stepien said.
