Results of Weekend Snowfall Throughout New York

by Mindy Cohn

After 693 days without snow, the .02 inches that fell in Central Park barely counted as snow for New York City.

Amounts in other areas include 0.3 inches at La Guardia,  0.1 inches at JFK, Spring Valley 4.8, 10.2 inches at Chester, and 9.7 inches in Monroe.

During her winter storm briefing, Governor Kathy Hochul reported that there were no major cancellations due to the weather, no major delays, and minimal cancellations. The subway and Amtrak had some delays, though, with a number of runs between Boston and New York canceled  Motzei Shabbos.

New York State had about 1,035 power outages, but 80 percent were restored by Sunday afternoon.

The next significant weather event is rain, which is expected to be heavy on Tuesday and which might create weighty snow for those parts of New York retaining a higher snowfall.
