Half a century after the previous Skolya Rebbe, zt”l, the grandfather of the current Rebbe, shlit”a, relocated to Boro Park and began davening in the beis medrash on 48th Street, the space has again been outgrown by the flourishing chassidus following several expansion projects.
This week it was announced that the kehillah will be embarking on a major construction project, building out a huge extension on the adjoining lot which is currently being used for parking, and for the sukkah. It has also served as an annex, with a tent being erected there to accommodate an overflow crowd on busy Shabbosim, Yomim Tovim and Simchos.
A hanochas even hapinah is tentatively scheduled for sometime this fall, after which the construction is set to begin on a sizable extension for the Skolya chassidus’ center.
