Average Global Temperature Hit Record High, and Will Go Higher, According to Scientists

Planet Earth spiked its hottest day ever recorded this week, and many parts of the world suffered from devastating consequences, the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction reported.

At least 15 Americans had died this year so far after many states experienced a brutal heat wave that regularly blasted to 120 degrees in late June when Monday’s average global temperature reached 62.62 F., which is the highest average global temperature ever recorded.

Regular highs that went over 113 degrees in the state of Bihar in India throughout June killed at least 44 people. In China, the highest daily temperature has exceeded 95 degrees F. over a six-month period.

Temperatures will continue to rise as the summer continues and the natural warming effect of El Niño continues to develop, Friederike Otto, a senior lecturer in climate science at the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment in the UK told CNN.

People can help stop global warming by driving cars less frequently as the constant use of fossil fuels causes greenhouse gasses to emit and trap the earth’s heat.
