We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Chaya Presser, a”h, she was 92 years of age.
The nifteres was born to her father, Reb Sholom Kurtz, in Hungary—an idyllic life that was cut short with the advent of the Holocaust.
She married Reb Naftoli Presser following the war, and went on to raise a beautiful Torah family.
“She was a tzadekes,” recalled one neighbor. “Everyone on the block loved her, and she always had a smile for everyone.
Indeed, she was known for her incredible middos, and she gave utmost respect to everyone.
The Presser home was always open to all. Grandchildren recall how everyone was welcome in the home; family, and those became like family.
She had numbers on her hand from her days in Auschwitz. “She would say, ‘this is my phone number… for the next world,” recalled a family member. “She was never able to forget the Churban, and she always remembered her siblings and cousins, and her entire family that she lost. But looking at her smile, her chessed, and her positive demeanor, you could never tell.”
The nifteres leaves behind an incredible legacy, and generations who follow in her ways.
