We regret to inform you of the petirah of R’ Benzion Horowitz, an ardent Bobover Chossid and a lifelong Boro Park resident. He was 63 years of age.

The niftar was born to his father, Reb Meir Horowitz, z”l, a Holocaust survivor, and he was raised in the Bobover chassidus.

R’ Benzion worked as an appraiser of antiques, and was beloved and respected by everyone in the industry—Jewish and non-Jewish alike. “We just loved speaking to him and be in his presence," a nephew told BoroPark24. “He was just such a geshmake and well-mannered person.”

A number of years ago, R’ Benzion was interviewed for a documentary about Chassidic life. At the conclusion of his interview, he related the following: ''To my father, every grandchild that's born, it's like a shtuch to the Germans. We get together once a year, the entire family… I mean, you have to have earplugs because so many babies are crying –there’s that much noise. But for my father it's the biggest pleasure, just to see 72 grandchildren and all of them have the names of his family -- mother, father, grandfather. It's like his family is alive again.”

Reb Benzion—who suffered from illness for the last five years—represented the rebirth from terrible Churban that took away his parents’ entire world (he was named for his father’s rebbe, the Kedushas Zion), and for his sixty-three years on this earth he strove to live up to the incredible legacy of his forbears through his incredible middos and his yiras Shomayim.

The Levaya took place at the Bobover Beis Medrash on Thursday evening, and kevurah was in the Bobover Beis Hachaim in New Jersey.
