BDE: R’ Ezra YItzchok Ducht, z”l, Fixture in Area Shuls
By Y. S. Gold
We regret to inform you of the petirah of R’ Ezra Yitchok Ducht of Boro Park. He was a well-known personality in and around Shomrei Shabbos Shul, Bnei Yehuda, and the Lakewood Minyan. He was 64 years old.
The niftar’s father, Shimon, was one of the first to sell glasses in Boro Park, and Ezra grew up in the community.
He was known to collect milk crates prior to Tish B’Av so the mispalelim of Shomrei Shabbos would have where to sit during kinnos.
“He was a brilliant individual,” remembers one mispalel in Shomrei Shabbos. “He knew how to learn well, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of everything that was happening in the community.” Ezra was also known to be very careful in enunciating the words of krias shemah with clarity.
The nifter did not leave any children behind and the Klal is asked to say a Mishna or light a candle for Ezra Yitzchok ben Shimon.
The levaye will take place 2:00pm at the Beth Israel cemetery.
Yehi zichro baruch.
