BDE: R' Moshe Neuman, z"l

We are saddened to inform you of the passing of R’ Moshe
Neuman, z”l, longtime principal of Beis Yaakov of Queens and ardent ba’al
chessed, all without fanfare. He was 91 years of age.
The niftar was born in Germany, and he came to America as a
young child. He was shaped by the Gedolim of yesteryear, including Rav Hutner,
the Rebbeim of Torah Vodaas and Reb Mike Tress, zt”l.
One snow day, he came to yeshiva, and he was the only one
there. Rav Shachna Sohn, his rebbi at the time, learned with him privately for
close to three hours, after which Moshe asked him, “for a yochid, a single
person, you go to these lengths?”
Rav Shachna answered him that “A yochid is just as important
as the tzibur.”
Rav Moshe never forgot that lesson, in his six decades in
chinuch, he practiced this lesson every day, accommodating each and every
student and showering them with individual love and attention.
He was sent by his Rebbeim to Beis Yehuda in Detroit even
before his wedding, and immediately after his wedding, he took his young wife
to Allentown Pennsylvania where he served as a rov and a rebbi.
He served as the principal of Beis Yaakov of Queens for
close to fifty years, and even after retiring, he continued teaching, at no
charge—because he was a mechanech to his essence.
His son related that he was medakdek with every
penny, and he was an oheiv chessed, helping thousands of people throughout the
years.
He leaves this world with decades of accomplishment and mesirus
nefesh for chinuch, leaving behind beautiful generations.
Yehi Zichro Baruch.
