BDE: R’ Yisroel Yunger, z”l, 53, Niftar Suddenly, Plunging Community into Mourning
We are shocked and saddened to inform you of the sudden and untimely passing of Reb Yisroel Yunger of Boro Park. He was 53 years of age, and suffered a cardiac arrest after a day’s work like any other. He was zoche to marry off a child in recent weeks.
The shock and the grief that has engulfed his family, the Viznitzer chassidus, and the general Boro Park community is immeasurable.
The niftar was born in Williamsburg to his father, Reb Simcha, who passed away when R’ Yisroel was still unmarried. His ardent connection to Viznitz and its rebbeim became his entire life from a young age. He was mekushar to the Rebbe, Rebbe Mottele of Viznitz-Monsey, and to a number of his sons, the current Rebbeim.
He is also remembered as a ba’al chessed to the core. He would do anything to help another Yid, always offering people to drive them where they needed to go, even great distances.
Reb Yisroel leaves behind a wife and children, and an admiring community of Viznitzer chasidim.
The levaya took place Sunday night in Williamsburg, and Monday morning in Boro Park, and later in Monsey, where the niftar was laid to rest.
