BDE: Reb Yitzchok Meir Honig, z”l

We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Reb Yitzchok Meir Honig, a native of Munkacz, who merited to rebuild beautiful generations. He was 95 years old.

Born near Muncacz, the ir v’eim b’Yisroel, Munkacz, Czekeslovakia, where Yiddishkeit thrived before the war, he was zoche to see the Minchas Elozor of Muncacz during his youth.

His father, Reb Yisroel Dov was the chazzan by the Minchas Elozor, and he himself learned in Munkatch even after the passing of the Munkatcher Rov.

He was fortunate to survive the war, emerging with his steadfast emunah peshutah. He settled in Boro Park, where he became a pillar of Khal Beis Chaim Yehoshua, under the leadership of Rav Yaakov Yosef Halberstam, shlit”a, a grandson of the Kedushas Zion of Bobov.

He was meticulous in even the smallest halachah, b’kalah k’bachamurah. Every word was measured, and he could not emit a negative word about another person. His davening was legendary… Always being early, saying each word with sweetness and hartz.

He leaves behind a beautiful generation of children and grandchildren and great grandchildren who follow in his ways.

The Levaya took place Monday evening at Khal Beis Chaim Yehoshua. Kevurah was in the Bobover Beis Hachaim.

Yehi Zichro baruch.
