New York City Public Hospitals Reinstate Mask Mandates

by M.C. Millman

After a noted rise in respiratory illnesses, all New York City public hospitals have reinstated indoor mask requirements.

As COVID and flu cases continue to increase, as is the norm for winter, the mask mandate has gone into effect at eleven hospitals, thirty health centers, and five long-term care facilities where masks are now required in areas where patients are being treated.

While NYC's Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan says no hospitals or healthcare facilities have been overwhelmed, the mandate will stay in place in order to protect staff from getting sick.

"I hope this will not become a replay of the COVID Era," Williamsburg JCC's Executive Director, Rabbi Moshe Indig, shares with BoroPark24. "That being said, it is important for everyone to follow the hospital rules in order for patients to have visitors. If not, the patients will definitely suffer."
