Unilever’s Stocks take a Dive after Israel Boycott

A half a year after Unilever announced that it would be ending sales of its ice cream in “occupied Palestinian territory,” the company’s shares took a dive.

Unilever informed the owner of Ben & Jerry’s in Israel that his contract was over unless he obliged with the boycott.

The decision sparked backlash both from the Israeli government and Jewish organizations worldwide, with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett stating that Ben & Jerry’s had “decided to brand itself as anti-Israel ice cream.”

Antiboycott laws in states around the U.S. were enacted resulting in a $26 billion loss to the company.

A cashier at a convenience store fired for antisemitic behavior

A Jewish guy without a mask was refused service by a cashier at a convenience store near the Canadian border, who went on to serve a non-Jew without a mask minutes later. The incident was caught on camera and the employee was fired from her job.

“While we typically do not discuss internal personnel matters with anyone outside of the company, I can tell you that this situation will not be repeated as the staff member no longer works for our company,” the store owner said in an email.

NYPD Detective and Suspect shot in Staten Island

An NYPD detective was shot by a drug suspect early Thursday morning. Police were executing a search warrant at an address in Staten Island when Nelson Pizarro, 39, fired through a bedroom door striking the detective in his right leg. Cops fired back at Pizarro, who was not the target of the warrant but has his own history of arrests, hitting him in the leg.

The incident comes two days after a shooting in which both a cop and a suspect were shot in the Bronx sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

“Unless we get the help we need to get the guns off our streets and keep repeat offenders in jail, gunmen will continue to rule our city,” Detectives Endowment Association president Paul DiGiacomo said.
