A former window clerk at the post office on 20th Avenue has been indicted for stealing $160,000 from customers, according to an indictment brought by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, with the assistance of the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General, Northeast Area Field Office, and Special Agent in Charge Matthew Modafferi.

According to the indictment, the defendant voided customers’ money order purchases and pocketed the cash.

“This defendant allegedly abused her position and betrayed the public trust for her own personal gain. A thorough investigation uncovered the extent of her alleged theft, and we will now seek to hold her accountable. Public corruption will not be tolerated in Brooklyn,” said DA Gonzalez.

The defendant has been identified as Sherrin Saddler, 34, of Brooklyn, and she was arraigned Thursday on charges of second-degree grand larceny, official misconduct, and 180 counts of first-degree falsifying business records.
