Senators Propose 63.93% Increase in Federal Homeland Security Funding
by M.C. Millman
Yesterday, Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Gary Peters, Jacky Rosen, and Christopher Murphy announced a push to increase the Federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program to $500 million in grant funding.
The funding would be utilized by nonprofits at risk to enhance security to protect against terror attacks and hate crimes. The request is based on the uptick in dangerous sentiment now that Israel is at war and since a new FBI report showed a 37% increase in anti-Jewish hate crimes over the last year.
The request for $500 million reflects an increase of 63.93%, a significant rise over the $305 million in security funding that was awarded last year, as reported by BoroPark24 here.
