Station Agents for the MTA Will Step Away From Subway Booths

by Mindy Cohn
A significant change is coming for Metropolitan Transportation Authority station agents, who will now be known as roaming agents, according to News 12.
Agents, who until now have sat in glass booths, will be required to move out of the booth and move closer to commuters. The initiative adds more boots on the ground at subway stations while promising to enhance customer service simultaneously.
The new program will also prevent layoffs and is part of a joint agreement with the Transport Workers Union- Local 100.
