We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Reb Al Cynamon, a longtime Boro Park resident who was beloved by all who knew him. He was 75 years of age and was alone in the world.

The niftar grew up in Boro Park, and attended the famed Yeshiva Eitz Chaim on 13th Avenue during the 1950’s. His father was Reb Shraga Yair Cynamon, and Al was raised with temimus and emunah peshutah and to love Yiddishkeit.

He was an expert watchmaker by trade, one of the last to work on 47th Street in Manhattan. “He could disassemble a Rolex in minutes,” recalls an acquaintance. “He knew every part of these watches and was a true expert in his field.”

But Al’s true passion was Yiddishkeit. “He would take the bus to Manhattan from Boro Park and would ask people to learn with him since he did not know how to learn that well by himself,” recalls one man who was his longtime chavrusa.

Al’s middos and character likewise impressed themselves upon all those who knew him. “He would come eat Shabbos and Yom Tov meals by those who took him in and would do his utmost not to impose on his hosts in any way,” relates one host. “His middos and his eidelkeit defined him and endeared himself upon all who knew him.”

The niftar lived a quiet life and davened at Congregation Shomrei Emunah, where he was likewise beloved by the mispalelim there.

The levaya will take place at 11:30 Sunday morning at the home of the niftar, 1502 52nd Street.

Yehi zichro baruch.
