BDE: Reb Berish Weber, z”l
YS Gold
We regret to inform you of the petirah of Reb Yisochor Dov (Berish) Weber, one of the most senior Belzer chassidim, and a living example of an ehrliche, Chassidishe Yid. He had the tremendous merit of being the host of the Belzer Rrov when he visited Boro Park. He was 92 years of age.
Reb Berish was born to his parents, Reb Ephraim and Chana Weber, in the town of Makava, Hungary. Living in Makava, they forged a lifelong connection with the Makava Admorim, which lasted until his last days.
Many Yidden of Makava, fortunately, were not sent to Auschwitz along with their brethren, and the entire family was fortunate to survive. Tragedy struck the family when Reb Ephraim passed away following the war, and Berish and his siblings were left orphaned. Mrs. Weber lived in Williamsburg for many years, and was niftar in recent years at over 100 years old.
Berish was an ardent talmid of the Vayechi Yosef of Pupa, and kept a lifelong relationship with the Pupa Chassidus, especially during the years that he resided in Williamsburg, but his primary connection was to Belz, and was known in the chassidus as a living example for eidelkeit and Chassidishkeit.
In later years, he moved to Boro Park, where he davened in the Belzer Shtiebel on 45th Street.
He was unwell in recent years and was niftar in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
The Levaya will take place at the Belzer shtiebel on 45th Street at 11:15 this morning, and kevurah will be in Eretz Yisroel.
Yehi zichro baruch.
