BDE: Reb Yeshaya Eluzer Wolkowitz, z”l

We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Yeshaya Eluzer Wolkowitz, a prominent Bobover Chossid and renowned ba’al chessed. He was 68 at age.

The niftar was one of the heads of Chevrah Hatzolah. Being that he worked in the Rockaways, he founded Hatzolah of the Rockaways and Lawrence many years ago, and its office was located for many years inside one of his nursing homes. 

Acquaintances recall an incredible ba’al chessed, a tzaddik who went about his chessed in a quiet manner, without fanfare. “I found out years later that he advocated for me to be accepted into Hatzolah,” recalls one admirer, “and took responsibility that I would conform to the rules and expectations… I don’t know where I would be today without him.” 

“Many struggling souls found their way to his door,” recalled another friend, “and he helped everyone.” 

The niftar leaves behind a beautiful Torah family and an incredible legacy of chessed. 

The Levaya will take place at the Bobover Shul at 10:00 this morning.
