New Law Will Provide Funding for “Complete Streets”

New Law Will Provide Funding for “Complete Streets”

By: BZ Green

Shortly before New Year’s, Governor Hochul signed into law Legislation (S.3897/A.8936-A), which provides funding to local street design projects, construction and improvements that are aimed at safer streets for pedestrians and bikers.

"Whether you're on the sidewalk, in the bike lane or riding the bus, you deserve a high-quality trip that gets you safely to your destination," Governor Hochul said.

Pedestrian deaths in the United States are at a 40-year high, according to the Governor’s Highway Safety Administration. The legislation will provide funding for sidewalks, crosswalks, curb cuts and other pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, hopefully making navigating the streets safer for everyone.
