Updated Feb. 6:

As we reported here, a Boro Park family was brazenly robbed while sleeping in their hotel room in Miami last month. Today, Miami police shared the news that the burglar had been apprehended and that many of the valuables had been recovered was welcome news.

According to authorities, the suspect, Anthony Butler, scaled a Miami Beach high-rise hotel to enter the rooms of his victims and even held some at knifepoint.

In all, he broke into five units at the Alexander Hotel All Suite Oceanfront Resort. Butler, of northwest Miami-Dade, is now behind bars.

A number of the victims spoke with local media and reported how their valuables, which included gold watches, cash, and expensive jewelry, were stolen while they were fast asleep.

Police were able to track the suspect using his license plate and tracked him to a home in Miami. They conducted a surveillance of the home for a while before spotting Butler walking nearby. This was when they ordered him to the ground at gunpoint.

He was taken into custody without incident and reportedly confessed to all the crimes. Searching Butler’s home, police found evidence linking him to the scene of the crime, as well as many of the valuables he had stolen.
