The record-setting weather pattern is forecast to start in early afternoon hours on Friday, with temperatures in the balmy 50s. They will then begin a rapid descent at sundown, with a freezing rain possibly mixing with snow and sleet into the evening hours.
On Shabbos morning, temperatures will be in the 40s with a windchill making it feel like 25 degrees. Meteorologists are not ruling out snow flurries in the afternoon. The winds will calm down later Shabbos afternoon.
Spring makes its return on Sunday morning, and we can expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 50s.
Snow this late in the year is so rare, the last time it happened was 43 years ago, on May 9, 1977. The time before was May 4, 1946.
