Burger:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
2 cubes frozen sautéd onions
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Oil for searing
1: Use your hand to combine all the ingredients. Preheat one cup of oil in a large pan over medium heat
2: Lightly oil your hands and start forming large patties with your beef mixture. Sear each patty for three to five minutes each side. Remove and place on a plate lined with paper towel
Latke:
4 potatoes
4 eggs
1/2 cup seltzer
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Oil for frying
1: Whisk the eggs in a large bowl, grate the potatoes, and pour it into the same bowl
2: Add the rest of the ingredients and mix until incorporated
3: Fill a pan with about a 1/4 inch of oil and heat over medium heat. Use a ladle to pour in from the latke batter into the oil. When the edges start turning brown, flip the latke and fry until golden
4: Remove from the pan and allow for the latkes to cool
Assemble:
Toast some burger buns and smear with garlic mayonnaise. Place a latke on the bottom bun. Add a burger patty and another latke on top. Add some of your favorite burger toppings. Pictured is kale, tomatoes, fried eggs, and beef fry! Add the bun on top and dig in!
Notes: If you will be making this for a Chanukah party use whatever you can to make this easier for you. Many stores sell ready latke batter so use that if you don’t want to grate potatoes. You can buy ready beef patties that just need to be seared!
