Governor Cuomo Rolls Back Occupancy Restrictions for Dining and other Establishments
Governor Cuomo on Friday announced the relaxation of restrictions on indoor dining—allowing seating of up to 75% capacity in an establishments, beginning in May 7.
This move will bring New York State in line with rules for restaurants many other states, which have already been at 75% for a while.
Barber shops, Hair salons, And other personal care establishments will likewise be able to expand fo 75%, beginning on May 7.
Gyms and fitness centers—which by nature have a higher risk of Covid spread—will be allowed to have a 50% occupancy, starting on May 15.
New York State, which has been one of the hardest hit during this pandemic, had instituted a micro cluster-zoning approach to addressing Covid outbreaks where they pop up (which has been a subject of much controversy in our community , which had felt discriminated against through this law). Governor Cuomo will be signing an executive order rescinding this law—as New York slowly emerges from the Pandemic nightmare.
